On October 11, 2016, the New Hanover County Bar Association, Inc. held its annual meeting and pro bono luncheon.

During the meeting, elections were held for the 2016-2017 officers and for one vacant seat on the Board of Directors.  Max Ashworth was elected to the Board of Directors.  Virginia S. Carter will serve as President, Gregory M. Katzman will serve as Vice-President and Treasurer, and Emily Jones will serve as Secretary.

Hon. J. H. Corpening, II, Chief District Court Judge for the Fifth Judicial District delivered remarks in support of pro bono services by the private bar.

Public Defender Jennifer Harjo presented Carter T. Lambeth an award of appreciation to recognize a career of service to indigent defendants.

Linda B. Sayed received the Addison Hewlett Jr. Award for exemplary pro bono service.
